A Navigator is an integral part of Can’t Stop Columbus’ growth, internal community engagement, and continuing success. Navigators are responsible for contacting volunteer members of the Can’t Stop Columbus team including, but not limited to, developers, designers, business members, product owners and health care professionals, nonprofits to engage them in the Can’t Stop Columbus’ ecosystem. Navigators also help volunteers with specific projects and community-based solutions connect with a skilled team of volunteers and the resources necessary to make their project a reality. Navigators are expected to attend weekday virtual check-in meetings.
Time Commitment: We ask that a volunteer navigator be available for approximately 4 hours per week for the next couple of months. We ideally would like a quarterly commitment.

- Slack bot messages the Navigators when a new volunteer form is filled out.
- New volunteers are manually invited to join the slack channel by one of the Navigators using the Slack invite link and is approved by one of the organizers. The link is then sent out.
- A Navigator emails a welcome letter to the new volunteer with info about joining Slack if they haven’t already, a brief description of what to check out in the CSC Slack first, as well as a few highlighted volunteer job opportunities
- Navigators drop in and out of channels and follow up with project leads to see what the volunteer needs are for each project. They also remind leads to let the Navigator team know if any volunteer opportunities arise that we should be aware of so we can assist in finding volunteers for the position or positions needed.
- Navigators meet weekly, Tuesday mornings at 9am to go over new needs and evaluate needs that are on the jobs board.
- Navigators often work as go-betweens between organizers, leads, and volunteers.
- Navigators often fill in on other duties as well, as needed.
